This is a very special painting, created for my first nephew, Billy (William), who was born this July, and his parents.

I knew I wanted the painting to be of Billy and a “beast-like” creature, i.e. a bear, fox, wolf, tiger, etc. When I saw that 2024 was the year of the Dragon in the Chinese new year —specifically a wood dragon— which I chose to represent through the antlers and it’s green coloring, I knew exactly what the painting would be.

I hoped to create a fantastical setting that could be for children, as well as adults. This painting is a reminder to immerse yourself in childlike wonder every once in awhile.
